beautiful beaches

One of the main draws to Fuerteventura and Corralejo in particular are the wonderful Beaches, there is no doubt that it has some of the most impressive beaches throughout the whole of Europe and possibly the world. By far the most impressive in the area are situated just south of Corralejo in the Parque Natural de Corralejo. Shuttle buses run from the majority of Hotels (there and back) on a regular basis, alternatively a leisurely bike ride will have you there in no time. Once there lose yourself for a couple of hours and wonder at some really breathtaking and awe inspiring scenery or perhaps indulge in one of the many water/wind related sports on offer. Shops are few and far between so make sure you have plenty of water on board and of course sun protection. These are the beaches that charm thousands of tourists to this beautiful island every year.

Tan Enhancers & Accelerators - are they worth it?

Don't be embarrassed to find a number of naturists on your walks, this tends to be in the areas either side of the two large RUI hotels and most will be concealed within the numerous circular rock constructions which give shelter from the wind and of course a little privacy.
Although a beautiful oasis please be mindful of your safety when bathing or participating in water sports. The majority of 'popular' beaches do have a lifeguards on watch but please take notice of the flags, if a red flag hoisted then the water is considered dangerous. Strong undertows can pull you away from the shore and even the strongest of swimmers can end up in some difficulty. The Grandes Playas beach in Corralejo has the prestigious Blue Flag award, this is awarded each year (a season at a time) to European and South African beaches that meet certain standards and is based on compliance with 27 criteria covering:

1) Water Quality
2) Environmental Education and Information
3) Environmental Management
4) Safety and Services
